Administrar el medio ambiente y los recursos naturales renovables en el Departamento de Risaralda y propender por su desarrollo sotenible, de conformidad con las disposiciones legales y las políticas del Ministerio de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible. Visión : En el año 2019 seremos: En el Orden Social: Una Entidad que promueva y apoye la cultura ambiental y la participación ciudadana en torno a los propósitos de la gestión ambiental para el desarrollo sostenible de nuestro departamento. En el Orden Regional: Una Entidad que promueva y apoye la integración de la región eje cafetero en torno a una gestión ambiental articulada. En el Orden Institucional: Una Entidad fortalecida en la administración de los recursos naturales renovables y el medio ambiente, mediante el ejercicio y el reconocimiento de la autoridad ambiental.

Entidad con sede en la Ciudad de Pereira Risaralda, cuenta con una plan de personal de ciento treinta y seis (136) Servidores Públicos.
