Misión: Diseñar e implementar políticas públicas orientadas a promover la innovación en el sector turismo, mejorar la calidad de los servicios turísticos y la competitividad incentivando a la generación de mayor valor agregado, promoviendo el desarrollo sostenible, del Distrito de Santa Marta Visión: En el 2030 el instituto de Turismo -INDETUR – será el ente rector y facilitador que impulsará el desarrollo turístico sostenible, del Distrito de Santa Marta, a nivel nacional e internacional por medio de la unión del sector público, privado y la sociedad civil.

El Instituto Distrital de Turismo de Santa Marta es un establecimiento de Orden Distrital descentralizado por servicios, con personeria jurídica, autonomía administrativa y financiera y patrimonio propio, adscrito al Sector de Desarrollo administrativo de competitividad, regido por lo señalado en la Ley 489 de 1998
